Ya'll- I don't know how many times I hear people say that cooking is too hard. Really??? WTF are you cooking? This is a basic life skill that is not hard. Losing a loved one is hard. Cooking, however, is not. If you think cooking is hard then good lord I am wondering how you make it through life.
Oh, okay, it's not hard, but you are too busy... Really???? You are too busy to heat some food so your body can continue to work, and function and keep you alive so you can do all of that busy stuff? Wow, now that is busy.
How long does it take to buy food and cook it? Maybe an hour a week to shop? Maybe 30 minutes to an hour per day to prepare? You could make a meal in the time it is taking you to scroll through this feed and read my blog. I promise.
At least you don't have to grow your food, or better yet, hunt it down and kill it. That would thin the population for sure.
My favorite tool in the "cooking takes too long" war is the crockpot. I ALWAYS have something in there cooking. This week, per my daughter's request, we made "crack chicken". The results were amazing.
Boneless skinless chicken breasts
16oz. fat free cream cheese (or greek yogurt cream cheese)
1 packet of dry ranch seasoning mix
1/2 bottle of hot sauce (your choice)
Throw that all in the crockpot on low for 6ish hours and viola!!
Cooking isn't hard, and we all know it. It is inconvenient in our really convenient, instant gratification lives. I am one of those people who enjoys cooking IF I have extra time in the day (that would be NEVER). I'm in my last year as a doctoral student, I am a professor, a business owner, and a mother of four. Time is my most valuable commodity. However, being healthy and setting a healthy example for my kids is a priority and finding ways to streamline the cooking process helps keep this in focus.
Next time- French toast and how to cook all of your family's meals in one day!
