This week was one of the most challenging in my quest for my doctorate degree. Honestly. The assignment was the final for my theory of higher education class (holy smokes boring). I had to write a literature review on an obscure theory of organization. A theory I initially knew nothing about. For this assignment I actually had to work. This morning I am finishing it up and have to submit it by tomorrow evening. The amount of dread I had for this paper was impressive.
Interesting how that works, isn't it? I RARELY procrastinate (and even now I'm not really because I'll finish today with a day to spare). However, my dread factor can run high.
That being said, now that I am on the back side of it, the amount of pride I feel for all that hard work is amazing. Have you ever noticed that you rarely feel that pride for something that was easy? It's the hard stuff that makes us beam. This, my friends, is how you raise your self esteem- You Earn It!! No amount of self love can make you respect yourself- you have to earn it through hard work. Period. You can read all the self help books on the planet, you can try every diet known to man, but in the end you have to put your head down and do the work. That's how you get what you want, and that's how you feel good about yourself.
What have you done today to make yourself proud?
